Fabulous Friday Freebie Shawls

I'm sure you're wondering if I fell of the face of the planet this week - not exactly but I confess I blinked in incredulity when I discovered the week was gone! My evening blogging time was cleverly commandeered by some enthusiastic Mario Party players too and I couldn't resist  playing as Waluigi and look pencil-thin for at least a couple hours!  The weather this week has been prodigiously warm and balmy and it has been delightful to tackle the weeds in the flower beds and plan the arrangements of the new perennials.
So, to make up for the lack of posts this week I thought I would share some real knock-out patterns!

This Sweet Peach Shawl from Lion Brand is a dandy little project! Great for the beginning shawl knitter or a quick-knit project fro the experienced knitter who needs a gift in a hurry! I love the loopy edge finish but if I was to cast it on I would use a finer gauge yarn to give it a bit nicer drape. Handspun....

This Combo Shawl from Caron Naturally is another uncomplicated quick shawl to knit! Knit sideways, in garter stitch and medium weight yarn it has potential to be a real "zen" knit project! This would be an ideal showcase for a special skein of handspun luxury yarn!  The "combo" in the name comes from the addition of an ornate crochet edging which gives it a real elegance! (combination of knitting and crochet). And the nice part about a crochet edging is how easy it is to add beads for a bit of bling!

Saving the best for last, the Kudzu Shawlette from Classic Elite Yarns! What a gorgeous design! (but don't be fooled by this photo - it's really really really long!) An excellent introduction to lace knitting and a fantastic pattern to add beads to! It's so nice in fact, I think it warrants an extra picture! Enjoy! (and hopefully next week I'll have a little more time to post!) Cheers all!

I love them all, but I have to put the Kudzu shawl on my to-do list. I am living in the heart of kudzu country, so it will be a lovely conversation piece to wear. Thank you.
