Shawl Progress Update

I figured that since it was a long weekend - one that started with my birthday - I should at least make the effort to take a bit of time off to just loaf around and do something I've been putting off. I mean, usually a long weekend means you have one extra day to get work done around home, right? It also usually involves doing extra cleaning &  cooking for company etc. but after the company was gone I opted to ignore the dishes and put my feet up - and knit! And not just any knitting either! I fired up some past episodes of Top Gear to watch while I sorted out the stitches on my badly re-needled Pi Shawl! To my immense relief it wasn't quite as bad as I expected! True there were a couple patches where all the knitted yarn overs had raveled but once I got the hang of what they looked like it wasn't too tough to re-knit them and get my stitch count correct for each lace section. It went so well that it didn't even take 2 full episodes of Top Gear to complete the restoration! Yay!

After all that, I do have to admit to one failing - there are now 2 complete knit rounds instead of one knit round and one pattern round - and I absolutely refuse to tink it back.... at least not today! (there ARE limits to my endurance! LOL!) Maybe the next time I pick it up I'll have a change of heart but I'm not entirely convinced it will show that much... For right now I'm just glad to have all the stitches back, oriented correctly and ready to knit!

My other shawl project, my faroese in 100% silk is coming along just fine when I can remind myself to forget how much I hate purling!

Half purling in fact, because I have opted for stockingette for the entire upper portion of this shawl so it is pretty much a zen-knit project. It's actually a rather decadent zen-knit project, given the yarn - such a glossy slinky silk! Increases are done in a single row and then 10 inches without any increases are added. Then another row of increases and another 10 inches without. It's the kind of knitting project I just HAVE to have around for times I need to unwind without any hassles! Needless to say it will lose it's zen-ness once I start the broad bottom lace panel but until then it's a very calming friend!

    A belated Happy Birthday!
Yes, long weekends are good for getting things back in the "current" pile. Working on two pairs of socks that have languished too long on the needles.
