Friday Freebies For Comfort

The remnants of the huge storm from the American mid-west found it's way up here so I was unable to use the internet much yesterday. And it's been such a nasty cold, wildly windy two days all I can think about is wrapping up in something soft and knitted. These Friday Freebies are in keeping with that thought...

Not quite a poncho but more warm than a cape, this is Nansen Capelet Cowl from Berroco. I love their choice of yarn but I think I'd like it even better if it was a naturally colored handspun rather than a dyed brown. The textures are "just enough" without making it too visually heavy. Knit in the round there's no seams either!

The Kimberly Shrug from Classic Elite is a lovely lacy dollop of color! It is knit in 2 pieces from the center back to keep the lace going in the right direction for both sleeves. I think it would be a knit-in-a-weekend project. If I were to cast it on I would  make the sleeves a bit longer. As for the pink frilly whatever-it-is they hemmed it with... I think I'll pass..... Otherwise I really like it!

And my personal favorite, the Shoulder Shawl from Caron Naturally. I am absolutely head over heels in love with this pattern! In fact I already picked out some 100% silk yarn to knit it! I love the shape, I love the large lace motifs - I can hardly wait to cast it on... but that's a story for another post! LOL!! Cheers all!

Love the shoulder shawl. Not crazy about the yarn they use, but the pattern is super! Thanks for spotlighting it.
