Friday Freebies for a Capricious Spring

With a cool petulant Spring on our hands it seems it is not quite yet time to give up on sweaters. I love the classic simplicity of this Top-down Pullover from Lion Brand. It is, as the name implies, knit from the top down and I love how the increases are made so thoughtfully and produce a lovely radiant yoke. Their sample has non-rib edges but to me it looks so unfinished to let the hems curl like that, especially on 3/4 length sleeves.  If I knit it without an edge finish I would make the sleeves full length.
For non-winter wear it would lend itself well to a cotton or bamboo blend but not 100% of either because those seamless shoulders would sag all to crazy. For winter wear I'd use a superwash of some sort because I'd wear it a lot!

From the first time I saw Cirrus from Berocco all I could think of was "handspun"! A lovely textural stitch and single button closure make this the type of sweater you want to toss on over just about anything on days when you're not sure what the day's weather will bring! Or how about knitting it in a smooshy  alpaca blend and wrapping up in it the next time you curl up in the window seat with a good book! One thing 's for sure - I'd change the color!

I couldn't resist sharing another yoke sweater, the Bowen from Berocco. Although it's a yoke sweater the decreases are done raglan style. It was knit in self-striping yarn to show off that the components are knit at different angles. I haven't decided if I like it or not but it's certainly interesting to look at! Perhaps if it was a different color...
