PhatFiber Samples for April Butterflies & Flutterbys

Since I received my PhatFiber Sampler Box, it only follows it's time to send off my samples for the next one! In spite of everything the box looked to me like it would be good for at least one more trip through the postal system so I spent a good bit of time Saturday packaging up my samples for the April Box "Butterflies and Flutterbys". What a theme! I have so many butterfly beads I hardly knew where to start! LOL! For my samples I chose Czech glass pressed butterflies in quite a few different color combinations. I have already started posting butterfly stitch markers to my Etsy Shop but they're not all Czech glass like these.

I know that when I submitted spindles to the box it really increased traffic to my shop, at least for a little while, but I'm not so sure about the stitch markers. I guess I'm hoping that if I keep submitting quality people will begin to notice. In spite of my expectations and reservations I'm at least enjoying making them and in many ways that's really what it's all about! Although Czech glass sets a pretty high standard I really like working with India art glass too! The butterflies I'm working with right now are such beautiful transparent colors! I think it's partly because of how thick they are. They look like they've been cut out with itty bitty cookie cutters and no two are identical. I don't have a photo of them right now but will certainly post one here once they're ready to go into the shop.
Since I was feeling singularly uninspired for the May theme of Spice Market I made a huge bunch of butterflies in darker colors like topaz and brown. Let's just say cinnamon and cloves so I've got the theme covered, OK? LOL!! I bundled them up too and sent two month's worth of samples in one box. I was feeling so smug about saving on some postage.... until I got home from mailing them and I realized I hadn't taken any pics of them to post anywhere. D'oh! Brilliant!
But butterflies weren't the only thing I made! I dug out a big bag of small Ladybugs and some Dragonfly charms. I sent Ladybug samples for the April box and Dragonfly samples for the May box, even though they didn't have any real connection to the theme! I sent a total of more than 70 sample packs for each Sampler box. I really debated whether I should send them all for April or not but I decided I could use the time I'd saved on trying to work up something for May assembling some new spindles instead. A MUCH better idea! I have so many really beautiful carved stone whorls that need drilling and setting...

So if you're planning to buy a PhatFiber Sampler Box for April (hopefully) you can look forward to the possibility of getting one of my little parcels in it! Cheers!
