More Finished Yarn!

Perhaps you remember this mixed fiber batt I got in the PhatFiber Christmas gift exchange? It was a very interesting spin! A big change from my usual uniformly blended top! I think what surprised me the most is how, in spite of what the batt looks like here, the finished yarn still became homogenous without large blobs of color segments. It completely changed how I think about carding batts to blend fibers. I realized that it isn't always necessary to run things through 3 or 4 times, especially if you're starting with combed top. It's different if you're trying to align raw fleece and assemble the fibers into some sort of directional order, but if the fiber is already "ready to spin" then a carefully planned layering of fiber onto the drum in a single pass is all that's necessary.
Even the end result was a surprise! I never would have expected those oranges and emeralds to give way to the burgundy and gold! The finished yarn reminds me of heavy brocade garments from the Regency period! Something very Edwardian at the very least - rich and sumptuous! When I was done I wished there had been more! LOL!! Not that I'm short of spinning fiber or anything... *ahem!*
A mere 98 gm (3.4 oz) and only 160 yds of 2-ply which just barely qualifies as a worsted weight! (also went into the Etsy Shop)
