Deep Sea And The Tides of Time

I don't know how things are going in your life but something really strange, even a bit disconcerting is going on in mine. It's a bit of a time warp, really, the weeks seem to be going Sunday, Monday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday etc. Somewhere in the middle of this time hiccup I am supposed to be getting all sorts of things done that don't seem to be happening and I just can't put my finger on why.
For example, Mondays tend to be SO frenetic here that I've given up trying to post (usually after 11 pm) on that day. At that time of day/night I just can't dredge up the strength and enthusiasm to do it. So I thought, well, I can just do a much better post on Tuesday, which I generally manage to do. This evening I was already getting the Friday Freebie ready and then I thought, how silly, since it's only Wednesday and I just did my first post of the week last night, until I opened my blogging interface and found out my last post was actually 2 days ago and it's a good thing I was getting the FF ready because I'll need it TOMORROW...  and so it goes, a bit like the proverbial merry-go-round and I'm wondering who sped up time and didn't increase my speed along with it.....
So I'll turn my thoughts to fiber now and leave the fabric of the universe to more prodigious minds...
I felt I really needed a shot of color to spin with so I took this really nice BFL/silk blend I bought from the Dyepot just before Christmas and just let it go at my comfort-spinning weight. On one hand, I really like silk blend yarns. I find they have a slightly more elegant hand than plain wool - even Polwarth - and silk will always hold that special place in my heart with exotic Oriental things like cloisonne bangles and gilded dragons. On the other hand, I readily confess it is not my most favorite thing to spin. Never has been, likely never will be. In fact the only silk I like spinning less than silk blends is silk hankies and I have 1/3 of a pound of them in my stash to dye and then torture myself spinning one day! LOL! Silk adds a very "dry" drag to a blend and conversely 100% silk doesn't like to cling to itself and has the problem of sliding apart and shredding if there is too much pull from the wheel and not enough twist before trying to wind on. *sigh* And I really love silk yarn and silk blend yarns....

You can see the luster of it even in the top. I liked the subtle variations in the color, not too loud a green and not too drastic a contrast with the blues. It made for a very harmonious colorway in the yarn. I did my usual, Navajo plied it to preserve the color changes, which I felt was important because of the way it will look when it's knit up... by whoever buys it...

The photo's a bit on the dark side but it came out my unavoidable (apparently) standard weight of heavy worsted/chunky, 180 yds, approx 4.3 oz.
