February PhatFiber Samples

I have finished my PhatFiber samples for the February box and shipped them off already! This essentially equates to being on time! Ya, I know! Miracles DO happen! Now if I can just get the For Sale versions finished and posted in my shop... LOL!! I made these metal filigree spindles for spinning lace weight singles. They were originally pendants with a large bezel loop that I had to cut off with a dremel and polish down the "scar", then touch up the missing finish with metallic paint. (Gotta' love those power tools!) They are not too heavy and (I think) very pretty! I embellished these with pearls and they are a Sampler-Box-only model. The ones for my shop will look something like these...

I really hate to sound like I'm complaining (even if I am) but I'll tell you, the pearls were much easier to apply because they're all the same. The colored jewels are really tough because in addition to being microscopic you have to get all the right colors in the right place! They are SO tiny they're darn near impossible to pick up - golly I'd love to know how to do that better than pressing them onto my fingers. By the time I'm finished I have a layer of glue on most of my fingertips and the Jeweler's glue bonds skin together on contact - no kidding, seriously - so I usually know I've got some on my skin when I can't get two of my fingers apart. Unlike Crazy glue, which is water based, you can't just soak them apart. I have to use solvent to clean it off or I can't spin fiber because it makes my fingertips so hard and rough. What's more, I'm sure it would take weeks to wear off because it's such a tough formula. Other than that, I really loved making these and I couldn't be more pleased with how they all turned out! I know they help contribute to the Box scramble when the boxes go on sale - now to get my shop whipped into shape for the nice blip of traffic they will inspire, (I hope)! I have a bunch more spindles to photograph and post as well as some sweet little lace weight stitch markers! Wish me luck! Cheers!
