Friday Freebie Scarves

True I have only ever knit one in my entire life but I know lots of other knitters knit lots of scarves - and who can call their pattern stash a true "stash" without scarf patterns?

A scarf like Lion Brand's Cloud White Lace scarf could certainly tempt me! Simple lace in the eternally classic color - white... or maybe even natural ecru, this beauty will go with absolutely anything you'd like to wear! Pick a fiber - any fiber - your favorite weight, maybe even something extravagant like a vicuna blend that you knit with needles 2 sizes too big... endless possibilities! Wow!

If you'd prefer a quicker crochet project, how about this Champlain One Skein crochet scarf by Caron Naturally? I love the color they chose but it just looks too stiff in this picture. I'd make it either a slightly larger gauge or use a lighter weight yarn... maybe a singles yarn instead of something high twist... gosh I hate knitting or crocheting that looks like it was made of Phentex! (yes, I apologize for swearing in public - sorry!)

Do you like the look of woven scarves but don't have a loom? This Kumara Scarf from Classic Elite Yarns gives you that look and is much softer and flexible to boot! The pattern is a clever 2-color slip stitch that is much easier to knit than you might think! Instead of a fringe there's a 2-color ribbing that's an absolutely smashing edge finish! I really love the look of this pattern and I could SO see it in 2 natural colors. The less contrast between the colors, the more subtle the look and vice versa.

Hope you see something to inspire you! Enjoy!

I think the Kumara would look nice in a muted monochrome variegated yarn with acomplementry solid or maybe a high contrast.

Just a quick THANK YOU for my wonderful prize box! (I posted about it on my blog, but suddenly realized I hadn't posted HERE).
    I'm inspired by the mug...repeatedly.
