Friday Freebie Shawls Part 1 - crochet

I have such a great line up of Shawl patterns to share with you I will post some today and next Friday too. I realize that everyone is scrambling to get Christmas knitting done (no, actually, I'M not but...) in the midst of it all, it's nice to have a special shawl pattern on the go, even if you just print it out and tuck it in with the yarn... OK maybe if you just cast on and start the first few rows.... or maybe go stash diving in your fiber and pick out your favorite to spin into something suitable to cast on later... am I causing trouble yet? LOL!

I have long admired this Spider Stitch Wrap from Caron Naturally! It's SO elegant! I want one in something with angelina in it so it glitters just a little... and then I'll have to beg and plead (and most likely bribe) one of my DDs to crochet it for me *sigh!*. All I can think of when I look at it, is "how did they do that?"

A little more "classic crochet" in design is this Mother of The Bride shawl, from our friends at Lion Brand. I've always loved shell crochet and that combination in a pillowy soft oatmeal wool just says "cuddle me". It has gentle shaping too - a little more structurally mature than the beginner triangle shawl! I could see this done in a finer gauge yarn like Kid Silk Haze and then you'd have something really elegant!

This airy crochet Verdana Shawl is also from Caron Naturally. Cleverly designed with panels of different stitches it resembles a flower and the drape is so perfect for sitting and reading a book or going for an amble in the afternoon... it's even more lovely from the front! What a great pattern to stitch away at over the winter and finish in time for spring! Cheers all! Enjoy!
