Friday Freebies With Cables

I bet after my last post you were expecting more cowls for Friday Freebie! Naw, I've got some great cabled sweater patterns instead! I'm thinking if you cast one on now you could probably have it finished before ski season... assuming you knit with more dedication than I do! LOL!

The Shaped Cable Top from our friends at Lion Brand is a great way to have a cabled sweater without having to cable the whole thing! Gentle shaping and sleeves you can make make almost any length mean you can make this classic style dressy or casual just by changing the yarn. With all that plain stockingette, how about an indy dyed yarn that transitions into a solid shade for the cables?

I couldn't resist posting this Midnight Glamour pullover also from Lion Brand. It's a truly elegant design with the cables and ribbing enhancing that awesome shaping... not that I'm in any danger of casting it on... at least not until I suddenly have a waistline like that in need of accentuating! I mean, maybe there are lots of knitters still shaped like that, but I'm inclined to believe there are a lot more who aren't! Either way, here it is, free for downloading!

I wasn't particularly excited about this Aidez Aran Cabled Cardi from Berroco, what with the slouchy shorts and frumpy ruched top, not to mention the blah beige color. I mean, at first glance it looks like something from a garage sale or grandpa's closet. So NOT in keeping with Berroco's usual style! But when I clicked on the link I saw this picture of the back and everything changed!

Now THIS is a cardi I can see on my needles in the future! (again with the cruddy looking shorts!) Aran weight, moving cables with texture in the middles, raglan sleeves and a beautifully cabled collar. What's not to love? Pull out the handspun in your favorite natural shade and knit some comfort! Cheers all!
