What A Start To The Week!

Here's a photo from my porch tonight. And it's still snowing although not heavily. The worst part is that it rained nearly an inch over night and then it started to snow.... I suppose it was inevitable, being nearly November.
Anyways, It was with great joy I prepared to cast on work sock #10. I was pretty happy about it, after all, I have been knitting them for 5 weeks now, watching the bags of yarn balls slowly emptying. Only when I reached in to get the last 2 balls of Linie 157 Tessa this is what I found:

To the best of my knowledge I DID count and have the right number of balls when I started out. Enough of the navy tweed for 3 pair and enough of the tan for 2 pair. How did I end up with this??? All I can think of is that maybe some of the balls of tan had yards taken off the outside of them. I did, after all, buy the Tessa (rolls eyes) on eBay. (That is really becoming a 4-letter word, isn't it?) Who knows, maybe I mis-counted, maybe my tension was off, maybe it was a full moon. All I know is my last sock was going to be a mis-match because I didn't have any more tan yarn and I had NOTHING - yes, even with a stash as big as mine - that was an even remote superwash substitute. Then I had a brain wave... some time ago we had watched the Adam Sandler movie Mr Deeds (and I had delighted in pointing out to my kids one of my highschool buddies who is an actor in it but I digress). I told my son it was his Mr Deeds sock (black foot) and that when he had his feet in his boots no one would know because the tops are all the same. I don't know if it made a dint, but he took them and was happy to have 5 full pairs. I think he'll only wear that pair when he works Fridays and "has to". Usually he works four fourteen hour days and has a 3 day weekend but they've been working Fridays to try to get ahead of the winter weather which showed up today.
So without further ado, here is the final pair. I couldn't get a photo of all 5 pairs, mostly because he takes them as soon as I've cast off the second sock (usually late Sunday when he's trying to leave for the city) but he promised to bring them all next weekend so I'll get a photo then! LOL!! Cheers all!
