More Friday Freebie Cowls!

For the beginning knitter, you can't go wrong with this Ridged Cowl from Lion Brand! No complicated stitches plus it's knit in the round - no seams either! I think it's the perfect showcase for that one-of-a-kind yarn you've been hoarding! What's more, for the experienced knitter, it's a totally zen knit! Get into your groove and then settle in to watch a movie!
Here's a first class Lazy Knitter tip: The ridges are made by alternating sections of knit and purl stitch. Hate purling as much as I do? When you need to change stitches just wrap the last stitch of your row, turn your work and knit in the other direction. It's in the round, after all. Why purl if you don't "need" to?

This Pale Gray Lace Cowl is a new pattern from Lion Brand. Its a great introduction to lace and if you have only one precious skein of cashmere or angora or vicuna, then this is the perfect project for it! It has a lovely scalloped edge and would lend itself easily to a bit of bead embellishment too!

Looking for more of a challenge? How about the Bridgehampton Cabled Cowl from Tahki Stacey Charles? There's a matching cardigan but that pattern's not free. The cowl is the teaser! Can't say I'm thrilled with the color they chose (what's with all the browns this season?). I'm sorry but I'd make this in a more traditional ecru or dark gray, maybe even navy but so definitely wool! Handspun? Hmmmm! Enjoy! Cheers all!
