Another Skein of Romney Finished!

These two nice bundles of blue are Romney fiber that I bought as packing material for the extra bobbins I bought for my Bea. They finally made it on to the wheel! I thought long and hard about what I wanted to do with these two. There was only half as much of the dark as the light. If I made my usual 3-ply I'd have to try to spin the light in two equal lots... too much like work! So I decided to do something even more unusual for me. I spun the dark as fine as I could and tried to spin the light twice as thick as that. The light only put about 2/3 full on the bobbin so I didn't have high expectations for this duo. I 2-plied it in a twinkling and watched with increasing tension as the dark bobbin got more and more empty! To my delight there really wasn't that much left on the light bobbin so I just 2-plied the light with itself and made a second skein I'll include as a bonus with the main blue tweed skein.
The main skein came out at just over 100 gm (4 oz), 206 yds which I call a heavy worsted. It's very lofty because of the high crimp but not nearly fine enough for next-to-skin wear. The baby skein is a measly 36 yards but it will be great for decorative edging to a scarf or mitts. Oh I remember the days when I started spinning with a spindle and I thought 100 yds was a HUGE amount of yarn to have made! LOL!  I've come a long way from that and it feels pretty good!
:o)
