Lilac Romney Skein

This is some of the Romney fiber I bought when I purchased the extra bobbins for my Bea. Romney is a very crimpy fiber! Its not especially soft but it seems to take dye well. I tore this bunch into thin strips trying to divide it fairly evenly. I made loose balls with it so when I spun it, every batch would have about the same proportion of light and dark purple.

It really didn't take long to spin but it's just so crimpy it's really hard to get nice even singles. I Navajo plied it but didn't give any attention to preserving the color changes so I ended up with a very subtle variation in color. The resulting yarn turned out better than I expected!

Approx 8.5 oz (200+ gm) 360 yds of 3 ply in a slightly-under-chunky weight. I would be willing to wager it will knit up more like Worsted depending on the gauge. This stuff is just so puffy. All I could think of was toques and mitts when I handled it! Definitely for outer wear but it will sure be toasty warm! Cheers all!
