Now All I Need Is A Little Free Time!

After a title like that, how much more is there to say? LOL!! Although the article in Spin-Off on using natural dyes looks interesting, when I see a mason jar and red cabbage I'm more inclined to think of pickling salt, vinegar and caraway seeds! I'm not being critical of the article, I think it's just Fall - garden harvest and all that - and I am thinking of things like veg as food, not utility items! It was nice to get 2 awesome magazines at the same time, just a little frustrating that I haven't time to do much reading right now. The girls and I just finished freezing peaches and strawberries today. It seems like every time I turn around there's something pressing to get done. I keep hoping things will slow down enough to get caught up on a few things and for now I'm letting myself believe it - it keeps me going!

One thing I DID make time for was to ogle Barb Brown's two pairs of knee highs, featured in Vogue Knitting Fall 2010 - the reason I bought the magazine! Hers are the blue ones on the left and the colorwork ones on the far right. Her blue pair were by far my favorites out of the whole collection - real elegance! It almost makes me feel old to reminisce about how knee highs were all the rage when I was 10-ish and now (finally) they're hot again! I always liked them. There was just something so suave about them... maybe it was just me but I always thought they were great. It makes me glad my legs are still nice enough to wear them now that they're "in"  but by the time I finish knitting a pair for myself they'll probably be "out" again! Ha ha!! No matter, I've been a closet knee high/calf high sock wearer all along anyways so whenever I manage to get around to a pair for myself I'll still boldly wear them... Cheers all!
