Another Mostly Wet Weekend

Yet another mostly rainy weekend - not good for the local farmers, that's for sure! Still, I did manage to get some relatively dry time outside to finish picking and sorting that white Jacob fleece. I really wanted to get it finished before the weather turns and it's not nice enough to do it outside. There's just something about veg that just makes waaaay too much mess indoors!

The more I handled it the more I liked it! It still was that unique Jacob feel but very little kemp. It was pretty compressed in the bag. Funny how it doesn't look like a pound in this photo, but it's all there! I had a hard time getting the last of it back into the bag as I was finishing with it! I wonder if this is why jobs like this always take longer than you think they will...

True to form, this is all the garbage that I separated out - very little! This is how a pound of good fleece should pan out! Now it's ready to card and then to spin.... *sigh* that translates into "get in line behind the other carding and spinning projects"! Ah well, you can only do one thing at a time and at least I have the assurance that I'll actually enjoy doing them as I get to them... whenever that is! LOL!! Cheers all!

I think I am what you would call a fleece collector. I have more fleeces than I could ever spin in one lifetime and now I have sent my friend on the hunt for Cormo when she goes to Rhineback!

And yet, I think I would love to come over and live at your house, among the fleeces.... any room? LOL!
