Take-Along Friday Freebie

We finally have some hot weather. Unfortunately it is generating some seriously violent storms and flooding to the south of us. So I thought, if we were evacuated from our house (relax - so far, there's no danger of that), what sort of project would I take along to keep my sanity? Obviously something small, but something useful and aesthetically pleasing. Something that would keep my attention but not tax my patience (which right now would likely rule out socks! LOL!).

Headbands seem to be coming back into style. These lovely turquoise ones are a set of 3 different crochet designs from Classic Elite . Since they're crocheted I think they would be easy to embellish with beads. I totally agree with their yarn choice of cotton, although cotton blends or hemp blends would be nice too. I'd avoid using silk simply for the static electricity silk is famous for. Silk + hair = not a great combination!

If you prefer knitting, how about this Wheat Ear stitch pattern? Or take any favorite lace stitch from your favorite stitch dictionary and do one pattern repeat bordered by 4 garter stitches - SO simple!
Now before you say you have no use for headbands, just remember they make terrific gifts. What's more, instead of making them into headbands, they would make lovely bookmarks, especially made in fillet cotton with tiny beads or sequins....
so give your knitting mojo a boost with a quick-to-knit that's sure to please! I know sometimes I sure need one when all I have are big projects on my needles! Cheers all!
