Enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle on the Canadian Prairies it is possible to take a 5 mile horseback ride and not meet a single neighbor. Privacy and freedom of movement not enjoyed by much of

Why I Love Wool
DID YOU KNOW? Unlike synthetic fibers, wool is fire retardant. Up until recently, the blankets firefighters used to rescue people from burning buildings were made of tightly woven wool. This is because wool will only burn if it is held on a flame and immediately stops burning if the flame is removed. Synthetics only need to be exposed to high heat before they combust (they don't even need an open flame) and will continue to burn even after being removed from the heat source. This makes synthetics HIGHLY DANGEROUS for infant bedding and clothing (if they're around smokers) because burning synthetics will actually melt right onto skin and continue to burn even after the flame has gone out.
Wool can be stretched up to 1/3 longer than it's resting length and still snap back into shape!
Wool is a 100% renewable resource that does not require chemicals or consumable energy to produce!
Superwash wool can be machine washed and dried without worry, making it easy care - perfect for infant wear & blankets!
With all the advances in sheep breeds (like Merino and Blue Face Leicester) plus the greater availability of specialty fibers like Alpaca, the days of "scratchy" wool are over!
Books I Recommend
Lovely children's books! All the illustrations are made of felted wool! Unique gifts!!
Today I am doing the Lazy Knitter Happy Dance. It's because I have a really great online friend AND because I got a parcel in the mail. My really great friend is Monika of Smokin Hot Needles who just happens to be on Ravelry and who took pity on me because I reached the jolting conclusion I didn't have enough yarn to finish my Terra Cotta Tee - yes, always a nice place to arrive at with a discontinued yarn! Anyways, I had posted on several Yahoo Groups looking for more of the Four Seasons yarn and one very thoughtful member sent me a link to a Ravelry search, which, unfortunately I couldn't use because I'm not a member. Monika, however, kindly pursued it and connected me with someone who had 2 complete skeins in the right color they were happy to sell. And here's the best part - it's even the same dye lot - now what are the odds of that??? I will admit I was hoping to get 3 to 5 more skeins but beggars can't be choosers, eh? Now I know you're thinking that it sounds like an awful lot of yardage to be "short" of but it's not when you understand I was hoping to make the main body full length and now I'll just make it waist length. It's one of the reasons I've knit the sleeves first on both yoke sweaters I'm working on. For those of you who don't know, on yoke sweaters the sleeves are worked to the underarm then joined to the main body and knit in the round. This way, no matter what I do to the main body, the sleeves are already the desired length and the right color. Any adjustments that need to be made due to yardage considerations will be made to the upper body and everything will match. I admit I take risks as a knitter but at least they are somewhat calculated risks! LOL! So are you wondering what I would have done if I couldn't find any more of this yarn in this color? Oh let's just not go there, shall we? Cheers all! Hope your day is as happy as mine!
