Would You Believe I Bought....

Monday is always, well, Monday - too much to do, not enough time to do it and - to my shock and amazement - +27 degree Celcius temperatures. I mean, let's just go from the freezer to the frying pan, shall we? Three weeks ago we had new snow! The heat wave just dropped on us out of nowhere and I'm so burned out from the heat I can hardly get myself organized!
Anyways, about my recent fiber purchase... I am always coming across new Etsy Shops from the members of the newest Yahoo groups I belong to. Recently I checked out LaTeaDa Designs and found myself irresistibly drawn to something I've never handled before - Yak fiber! Yup! YAK! Did I "need" more fiber? Nope! Was curiosity killing me? Totally! It was only $14.50 for 2 oz - 1/4 the price I've seen in a larger more commercial online retailer ($30 per ounce)! That made it pretty much impossible to look the other way! It has a fairly short staple, 2-3 inches and it's so fine and soft it reminds me of down. I have decided to blend it with alpaca before I try to spin it, since I have both brown and white alpaca and I'd like this to stay it's natural shades. Also, I don't think 2 oz of one color is going to be enough to do much of anything except play with it and as this is such gorgeous fiber I'd like to make it go as far as possible, if you know what I mean! Any of you who have spun yak before - please feel free to give me some advice! It will certainly be a couple weeks until I get to this but I am really looking forward to it! Cheers!
