Gorgeous Cotswold Fiber!

Talk about your smokin' fast shipment - my parcel of Cotswold fiber from Wooly Wool of the West arrived in the mail Friday! I was in ecstacy from the moment I laid eyes on it! Gorgeous, gorgeous fiber!!! The color ranges are on the dark side which is going to be SO perfect for the contrast with the white on the yoke top! I couldn't be more pleased! And it's so nice and clean! I don't think I'm even going to card it, I'll just spin it as it is. I have to say Val , you sure know how to process raw fiber - I'm impressed!
I had to laugh at myself, talking about spinning this fiber. Before I can do that I will have to empty some bobbins first! I am actually pretty close to having two empty, I'm thinking another hour or so of plying. Gosh I never thought it would take SO long to make just one 8oz bobbin of 2-ply! However, I AM determined to finish this 4-ply project - this year, even - so I'll keep plugging away! I have had some good advice from a friend who has actually made 4-ply cabled yarn and she cautioned me that I don't really need to add that much extra twist to my 2-ply so I'm keeping that in mind as I ply! I'm working with such large bobbins now I'd hate to ruin the whole lot because of something I read in a magazine article from an "expert" spinner! That really is one of the drawbacks of learning to spin on your own, with only books and videos for guidance. Sometimes having an experienced spinner look at what you're doing first hand is what's really needed. If you don't have that you just have to muddle through somehow and do the best you can. I will say that at times the uncertainty of the outcome adds a touch of excitement to the process, sometimes welcome, sometimes not, but I spin first and foremost for pleasure
and relaxation, everything else is secondary. As long as I keep my perspective I don't sweat it too much! Cheers all!
