Post #499 And A Give Away!!

I just got a box in the mail with someone's collection of Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot magazines, the official magazine of the Handweaver's Guild of America. NO! I am NOT in any danger of taking up weaving - I have no room (or $) for a loom and I prefer to knit - however - I am learning a lot from the info on different fibers, on dyeing, and generally smirking over the 80's experimental fashions in them! I bought them with the intention of taking my time reading them casually.
Fiber publications in general interest me, and there's always something (or things) in each issue that I benefit from reading. I mean, Spin Off only comes out 4 times a year and so far it's the only really good spinning magazine I've come across. SS&D is from a parallel craft with lots of cross over information. From what I've read so far, I'm very pleased I bought them. The first one I opened had a superb article on Jacob sheep and defined several different breeds of multi-horn sheep. When hubby looked over my shoulder at what I was reading, he looked me in the eye and said quite firmly. "NO! Don't even think it!" Hahahahahaha! *sigh!*

This is officially blog post #499! That means the next post is #500 so it's time to give away something - just to say Thank-you to all my readers! I've picked out a terrific book called Knitting Essentials. It's hardcover with an enclosed coil, lay flat binding. It's perfect for a beginner but has an entire section of textured stitches and color work patterns so the experienced knitter will get a lot out of it too! More on how to win it next post! Cheers all!

I bought a subscription to Piecework for the same reason and read a few really interesting articles, but have no intention to do tatting or weaving. So does this mean that when guys buy Play Boy for the articles, we can believe them now?

and you arent really going to rule out weaving entirely are you? I mean, eventually you will spin more than you can knit... and well... I'm just saying!

Yes! A very good time to stop by! LOL! As for weaving... welll, maybe some time but not any time soon unless someone actually gives me a 4-harness loom or some such beast... too much to do and simply not enough time to do it these days!
