Fun Friday Freebies!
The first is called the Wheat Ear stitch. It's a victorian era pattern modified by Anne Bud of Interweave. She transformed it into pillow case edging by knitting it with pearl cotton. While that's a lovely decorative idea, I plan to take it a step in the other direction and cast it on with something really decadent like cashmere, and knit a headband/ear warmer with it. What ideas come to your mind?

Wet-block
edging to open up and set the lace pattern.
The second freebie is two charts for traditional Estonian lace called Cat's Paw and Mice. They look fabulous as alternate rows in a scarf or shawl. The joke, of course, is the cat chasing the mice! The pattern is such a short repeat it should make for a fairly fast knit!

O = yarn over / = knit 2 together

I thought it might make a pretty bookmark if it were made from crochet cotton perhaps. A tassel could be added to the bottom.
Thanks for your book recommendation of the last post. I've requested it from my local public library!
Take care,
