Clara Parkes Does It Again!

I had a pleasant surprise, the other day. A parcel from Amazon.ca with a book I had pre-ordered in the summer! Its The Knitter's Book of Wool by Clara Parkes. I've been a long-time fan/reader of her weekly e-newsletter, the Knitter's Review where she reviews new yarns and new fiber trends, so I didn't waste any time buying her first book, the Knitter's Book of Yarn. I like her writing style and her way of looking at yarns. Her first book was pure pleasure for me! I learned SO much! And it isn't only "about" yarn, there are some really nice patterns in it too, showcasing different yarns best features and applications. It's very good value for the money so I didn't hesitate when her second book was available!
Now I appreciate that every knitter isn't in love with wool (like I am) but even so, this book is worth a look.

I couldn't resist taking a shot of this book in it's natural environment - my trunk full of wool for spinning! This book is full of pictures, pictures, pictures! Every breed and fleece is meticulously photographed and defined - absolutely superb! I have a copy of "In Sheep's Clothing" but I prefer The Knitter's Book of Wool. It just seems like no effort was spared, no time saved, making this book as thorough as it is beautiful. If you want to know more about wool - this is your book! Really! And the patterns are as diverse as they are beautiful. I admit the beginning knitter may feel a bit intimidated by some of them but they are SO worth the effort! Beautiful lace, colorwork and textured knits too! Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this book!

I look forward to your review once you've had a chance to thumb through it! And what wouldn't look good against a trunk of wool? EVERYTHING looks good with wool

The book looks so tiny in your big trunk! I thought at first you got it with all that fiber! I'll be waiting to buy this book until I've read some reviews, and saw some photos of the patterns in there.
