Another Friday Freebie!

I am pleased to announce I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with my computer/security/bookkeeping fracas so (she says, taking a deep breath) I think I will be able to get back to a more regular blogging schedule! I feel badly that I've only been able to manage twice a week for the last month or two but things have finally reached a resolution point where I no longer dread sitting down to the computer!
Well it's still cold here! Somehow I think it's going to hang around for the next eight months or so, so I've basically given up on any chance of an extended Indian Summer! *sigh*  On the up side, life is now officially all about woolens and knitting and spinning. Knowing me, my woolly projects will be finished in time for spring... Ha! Ha! Ha! but what can I say?
The free patterns from Berroco I want to share with you today all reflect my dejection over the rather
frosty weather! Each, however, offers a unique design twist - something to inject a little excitement and feed the imagination! Something to inspire you to pick up a gorgeous yarn and cast on....

The first is called Panini. It's a longtime favorite of mine. Basically think of it as one very long strip of neverending fairisle with two holes for sleeves. I always believed this pattern would be easily adaptable for a knitting machine... maybe even in a solid color with some punch-card lace instead of fairisle? Hmmm...

The second is called Lotus. This cardigan is perfect for any self-striping yarn. I could even see it in a textured novelty boucle! It's unique design feature is the elongated U-shaped peplum. It's simply got to be one of Norah Gaughan's patterns! I SO totally love it!

Third is this little gem called Scrunch. Yes, one half and one sleeve are knit sideways, the others are done from the bottom up. So simple yet so visually pleasing! I'm thinking about knitting this in some of my wild 100% linen and making a deliberate random stripe pattern by switching from one color to another since I have lots of small skeins in different yet harmonious colors. (Gosh, this last model could use a tan! Sheesh!) So I hope this has been a good Friday pick-me-up for all of you! Cheers!
