Fairisle Finally Finished!

I'm not sure it's my imagination but it seems as though the daylight is getting shorter and the days are simply getting shorter with it! I missed Friday Freebie completely last week and my projects are ahead of my photos again! Sheesh! Although I suppose it's better that way than the reverse! Ha ha! I'm really enjoying spinning with my "hookier" flyer and I think I've finally tamed this unruly lumpy fiber - so much so that I'm actually really excited about seeing the yarn once it's all plied. The 2-tone blue/green is finished and I'm spinning away on the silk/wool blend. It's coming out quite fine - I think there'll be quite a bit of yardage!
Wonder of all wonders, I finally finished the edging on my fairisle cape/poncho thingy. It's taken forever for me to wash, block and photograph it. It always seems like something else distracts me and I come across it and go, "Oh ya - I was supposed to have done this instead!". Here's a real miracle - I finished the edging and there was this much of the ball of black yarn left... now how did THAT happen??

I've also gotten in the habit - sort of - remembering to take a picture of something before I wash and block it. It's really quite amazing how some things bloom and relax. Here's the BEFORE:

You can see how the lace hem is more or less all rolled into itself and the whole thing is rather lumpy and bumpy looking. Once I washed it I blocked it across 2 sweater dryers (don't ya just LOVE garage sales??). I pinned out the lace points with T-pins.

Once it was dry I coerced DD#2 into doing a little modeling...

So it's finally finished.... and I enjoyed making it... maybe I'm turning into an old granny but I really liked having miles of mindless stockingette to twiddle away at while watching movies... I guess it's time to plot out my next Zen knit!
