More Hurt Books

The other books I got from the Hurt Book Sale are in just as great condition!

Of course I had to snag a copy of Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn! I've wanted one for a while - especially since Barb of Wild Geese Fiber has a pattern in it! (Yes! I know somebody famous!!) And it's every bit as good as I expected! Did I mention she's attending the Sock Summit in Oregon as both a participant and a vendor? (lucky duck!) Her local guild has great taste in scholarship recipiants! Here's the unexpected bonus - she's taking some of my notecards with her!! I'm SO excited! When the registration site opened over 30,000 people tried to register and crashed it! Can you say "Opportuniy for Exposure!"? Gosh I owe you a big Thank-you, Barb! I guess I'd better get those other paintings done and post the sets to my Etsy Shop - soon!
The 200 Braids book I bought mostly out of curiosity but I'm SO glad I did! It's full of spectacular eye candy! I just love the idea of fancy trims, ties and edgings that you make out of funky stuff and I was so inspired I even went hunting through my stash for usable material! Ha ha ha! Like I have glitter yarn! Well, it's the thought that counts, I guess! I do have some really nice shiny linens I might try using. I hunted around online to see what was available - I even looked around on eBay and didn't find much! Funny - didn't I predict that those nice-to-look-at-but-basically-useless novelty yarns would fade out? You can get eyelash yarn and feather yarn for about 50 cents a ball! I remember when it was 5 & 6 dollars! Hmmmm.... I guess classic fiber really does rule!! LOL!!
Last but not least I bought Lace & Eyelets. I've wanted a copy for a while now but with the exchange rate where it is, I felt it was an indulgence I couldn't afford.  Thank-you Hurt Book Sale!! The corners of the cover were a bit bent but that's all - to me, no big deal! I sat down and started thumbing through it. Then I got out some Stickynote page tabs to mark the ones I really liked and could see myself using some time.... I used the whole package!! Does that mean I recommend this book? DEFINITELY!

Here's a tip for you about sticky notes. I do the same thing with recipe books (my bad habit)but I could never remember which book I saw the recipe in. I write a note on the tab so I can see at a glance what I have marked. Also I put the tabs at the top of the book and not the side. This way the tabs don't get bent over when the book is on the shelf and I have the tabs stick out in rows at different heights for easy reading.

That's a great tip! You're pretty clever yourself! :o) I think I need to use those tabs more often!
