Goodies From The Hurt Book Sale

As I mentioned previously, I had the great good fortune to stumble across Interweave's Hurt Book Sale the day before their email newsletter announcing it went out. That means every book I ordered was still available! That's never happened before! Astonishingly my order shipped 2 days after I paid and it arrived late last week. What's more, none of the books were noticeably damaged, per se. I mean, nothing torn or bent or dented. In fact I'd go so far as to say I probably got the cream! I'm thinking maybe I should run out and buy a lottery ticket, you know.... this sort of thing just never happens to me - not in the real world, anyways! LOL!

So, before anyone faints - one of the biggest reasons I bought these books was because they were so cheap and it meant I could indulge my passion for reading, on a subject I know very little about! As you've learned from the post below I have dabbled a little in weaving. Although I enjoyed it immensely, you could hardly call it "traditional" and I've always wondered how it worked. Am I going to go out and buy a loom? Ha! Not likely! There's no room in my office, for one thing, and for another, I can't afford even a very small one and what's more, I'm quite content to knit and spin. However, that doesn't mean I haven't puzzled endlessly over how one produces pictures and designs in weaving - in fact - one of my favorite blankets is all done in lovely designs that are mirrored on both front and back - yes - that means it has no "wrong side". The exact same woven pictures on each side, one side predominantly green with white, the other predominantly white with green. I just have to know HOW??? And who know, maybe in twenty years or so, when all my dear children have grown up, I may be overcome with the urge to actually do it..... unless I'm too busy knitting for grandchildren!! LOL!!
