Casting on Another Hat

It's by Heartstrings, one of her featured pattern designers. The pattern is printed in full color on nice thick paper and comes in a protective sleeve (2 pages). The lace pattern is both charted and written in long hand (which I prefer for lace with longer pattern sections). I thought it very good value!
I have been wanting to make myself a summer-type hat for a while now but I wanted something lacy and feminine. I know the original pattern is done in wool but I decided to knit it in Louet 100% Linen instead. I have a bunch of mill ends I bought from Discontinued Brand Name Yarns last year so I wound a few skeins of different colors. I'm thinking I may make more than one... I might even sew on a few beads... (my daughters & I laughingly refer to this as "the magpie factor"). LOL!

These are all multi colored, and two have more than one multi-combo per skein so I'm hoping to end up with something a bit funky as well as feminine! I thought I would take it along as a waiting room project since we're in dentist mode right now. Lo and behold a completely unexpected thing happened! I got a parcel in the mail from Monika of Smokin' Hot Needles - one of her adorable project bags as a Thank-you for winning the 1000th Comment prize!

I just LOVE it! It's covered with the cutest farm animals, cows and sheep and chicks - and such a happy bright green! I packed it up with my hat project, pattern and a snack and headed off! It's such a perfect size for take-alongs and the shape of the top means nothing falls out! I was proud to carry it with me! Thanks ever so much Monika! It was so kind of you to send it!!

And the hat? It's nearly finished! Next Tuesday is the last appointment so maybe I'll actually get it done before the weather breaks for spring! Oh really, you say? Ha! We got 3 inches of snow yesterday...... sigh!

Oh no Snow.
It was 83* here yesterday.
I like the hat pattern. But I am not a hat wearer. I knit/crochet them for chemo needs.
bag is sweet and as much as you knit I know a different bag is neat to have.
i am always changing mine for each project.

I'm glad it arrived and that you like it! I'd like to know how the linen is working out for you for the beret.

I absolutely ADORE it! Thanks again SO much! I'm actually liking the linen - more on that when I post the finished hat, OK?
