Gypsy Baby Blanket

Amazing how quickly DD#1 finished this spiral baby blanket compared to how long the join-as-you-go squares baby blanket took! LOL!! She chose a worsted weight superwash wool, Mission Falls 1824 and a simple double crochet - her absolute favorite stitch. Since she was using my stash she could only choose from the colors on hand - and rather than select a small complimentary palette she took some of everything! It surprised me because the colors were olive greens, burgundy, lilac, rust, gold and so on - not her usual jewel primaries. Yet she took these earthy shades and carefully chose as she stitched them side-by-side. I think the result is quite beautiful! I mean, I know I would never have had the imagination to do a project like this - I just never would have thought of it. Yet she is so fearless with her use of color and always manages to turn out something really smashing. I'm so proud of her!
