Looking for Signs of Spring

The view out the window is dismal... snow and -30 C temps.... nevertheless it looks like some birds have shown up anyways....

DD#2 has grown tired of large projects. One day I was surfing and came across a lovely pattern from Lion Brand for these little birds. She made the blue one first and loved it so much she made another one in red and green (which I couldn't find to take the pic, of course!). She found out quickly that the weight of the yarn made an immediate difference in size as the red & green one made from chunky yarn is nearly twice the size of the pink one made from worsted! After that she went online herself and started looking for patterns, since DD#1 is making baby blankets she thought maybe a soft toy would be a suitable addition to the gifts! There will certainly be more pics to post....

Very cute! Are the birds sitting in a nest of fiber?

Cute and wonderful that they are getting into a hobby that will last a life time. Lion Brand web site has a few square toys that are adorable. I saw them on the header at Michaels. Of course, they didn't have patterns available, but the web site does. Search "Toys" and go through page after page of cute things to make or entice the younger generation to make. Way to go DD.
