Admiring The Work of My Own Hands....

I finished plying the Cotswold last night and wound it onto the swift, tied it and slipped it off... the finished skein leaves me breathless!! I look and I look and I still can't believe I spun it myself!!

I feel like the mother of a newborn, showing it off to anyone who will look! LOL!! In addition to the slight halo it also has an unmistakable sheen. I haven't soaked it yet to set the twist because I wanted you to see how unkinky it is, right off the bobbin! It may be partly due to the lanolin residual but I can't get over how nicely balanced the twist is! Oh if only ALL my spinning could be this nice!!

This is 8 ounces of Cotswold wool, 3-ply (yes! chain plied) approx 481 yds and 18 - 20 wpi which is Fine gauge. And yes, Barb, I think you're right - lace is definitely what this wants to be... I'll jot it down for summer knitting - it'll give me time to find a pattern I like!

I'm drooling, at a picture, without
    virtual petting! Aspirations for the
time I get my spindle and roving and
try to spin well. I agree, Lace it should be. Congratulations on a spin
    well done. Sandy

I can't see if from the photos, did you leave it as single, or did you ply it? It looks great! I dyed some of mine and it still kept the wonderful sheen.

Beautiful! Just beautiful! I can't wait to see it knit into something. And 8 oz. is quite a bit, so you can make something fairly sizey. A nice shawl? And on largish needles you will be surprised how quickly it will go.
