Tidbits....

With Christmas right around the corner I haven't been doing much but spinning and working on current projects. I'm half way through spinning the Clematis Vine BFL and still really loving the colors (and dreaming of spring, a million years away!) LOL!!! I seem to be having a bit of a contest going on with Barb from Wild Geese as to who has colder weather - so far, I think she's winning with daytime highs that have only hit the -25 mark!! Our daytimes have been -18 to -23... so you know, somehow I'm not sorry to lose this one....(!) LOL!!

Here's how my Kyla Fingerless gloves are coming along. Needless to say it's waaaaay too cold to wear them now but they're kind of fun to knit just the same. Sooner or later, spring will come and I'll use them for sure. What's more, they're my first pair of hand-wear ever! Really! Yes, I'm a very strange knitter. In 25+ years of knitting, these are my very first gloves and I've only knit 7 hats and one scarf. I've mostly knit sweaters and afghans and I tended toward chunky or worsted weight. Using fine yarns and tiny needles came onto the scene when I got hooked on socks, I mean, you can only knit so many pairs of chunky socks before you run out of someone to wear them, right? Now I feel like I'm seeing a whole new side of knitting..... Like my Finn sweater - it's the absolute finest yarn I've ever knit a sweater with! Years ago I never would have considered such a project! It takes forever to complete but the end result is so very satisfying! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?? Bow wow! So now I'm open to gloves, hats, shawls and any number of twiddly little knittables...

In other news, I discovered that Eunny Jang (now Editor of Interweave Knits) has moved her blog. I posted the new link on the sidebar. Her new blog is called Eunny Knits - her old blog is See Eunny Knit - just a tad confusing!! I've made a point of keeping her old blog on the list of links because she has one of the BEST tutorials on steeking (7 pages!!) I've ever seen! I used the "save" function on my browser to keep the pages, but it's nice to have the link there for her free patterns too! One never knows how long the links will remain active though... I spent almost an hour this morning making a printable copy of her Bayereische Socks pattern. The blog page doesn't print out and image copy is difficult to read so I cut 'n pasted and edited until I had it - charts and all. Aren't they just superb?? I've been in love with them absolutely forever! I'll probably be 60 before I ever try them though...

This is leading to my next hot topic - my Blogiversary! I've been busy plotting some kicka** prizes and I might just include a printed copy of this sock pattern with one of them.... one more reason to tune in here!!! Bwahaha!!!

My dirty little knitting secret is: I fudge stitches when I have too few or too many. My number choice is 175
