A Sale-ing We Will Go....

Saturday was a huge 2-Estate-5-Family garage sale. It was held indoors in the Legion Hall - how could I resist checking that out? Now I have to admit I wasn't expecting to find anything fiber related except maybe some of the old cheap acrylic-type yarn (which, indeed there was - and I DIDN'T buy). I won't bore you with the details of the 'other' purchases I made BUT how could I leave him behind??

I couldn't get over that someone actually took the time to knit this tiny bear a sweater and toque - never mind that they are a fairisle set! All that fiddling with multi-colors for a bear! This bear isn't much bigger than my hand so I surmise the set is made from baby yarn - a half-step up from laceweight. Soooo cute and only $1! I also bought (for $1) a little blue wooden box with metal handles & corners and a ceramic tile insert. I turned it into a boat for my unintentional collection of very small jointed bears - and a totally cute snowman Tamara sent me last winter!

But I think the real scoop is the spinning wheel I bought! Ya! A spinning wheel! HA ha ha ha!

It must be 60 years old - but sooo cute! The little treadle actually spins the wheel! There is no bobbin etc but I couldn't resist. It came with a HUGE hideous shade (behind it, in the pic) and the wiring is so old it needs to be replaced. I have a gorgeous pressed glass shade I want to put on it so when I replace the wiring I'll get a new mast for it too. It cost me $5. I saw one on eBay about 5 months ago that didn't look in quite as good condition and it sold for $45 (and the shipping was $28 - a pretty pricey purchase, eh?). So I'm tickled with it! I never would have thought I'd find something like this at a garage sale!
