I Gave in to MUCH WORSE Temptation!

I suppose our mistakes are meant to keep us humble - but oh my! If this actually WERE a "mistake" maybe it wouldn't be so bad ... but this was an "on purpose"! I know, I know, I'm supposed to be on a yarn-buying hiatus right now (like for the next 6 months) but...I had one of those weak-in-the-knees moments earlier this month when Discontinued Brand Name Yarns had a very small lot of kid mohair and merino-kid mohair-silk blends available. Now I don't consider myself a huge fan of mohair but I know luxurious quality when I see it! And I must say it was a very good thing I was shopping online and not in person. It would have been very embarrassing to have the sales girls pull me out of the bin because I was rolling in it...  but I digress!
I cannot praise the quality of this yarn enough! It smells slightly of sheep - which means minimal processing went into the fleece thus minimal shedding when knit because the fibers have not been frazzled and broken! The Mohair/silk blend skeins have a lustrous sheen that almost leaves me breathless ... worse, they only had crap colors in stock to choose from - or this - angelic white stuff which I bought with reckless abandon - every fiber of me convoluting with the desire to dye it! Yes - my insanity knows no bounds - I intend to desecrate this entire lot with another adventure in dyeing - bwa-ha-ha!!!

2 skeins of 90% Kid Mohair Laceweight - 1000 yds per skein and 4 - 100gm skeins of 42% Silk, 22% Merino, 18% Kidd Mohair, 315 yds per skein. (you have my permission to drool). And guess what? I got all this totally decadent luxury for under $95 - really! Now you know why I couldn't resist buying it! The blend I may make into a sweater for ME eventually but the laceweight - who knows???
I must say I have been a very good girl and have not touched my spinning wheel. I finished my reports and spent some quality time with my book keeping program - even yesterday when the weather would have been p-e-r-f-e-c-t for drying skeins out doors! (and it was an official holiday). I admit I am not caught up but as incentive to continue I have promised myself an entire day of dyeing - maybe this weekend  because I hear the weather is going to be p-e-r-f-e-c-t again.... I have some other skeins of silk blend yarns in natural colors that need a bit of livening up and some new dyes I bought in co-ordinating colors... yes, it's THAT TIME of year again - when every bland skein in my stash must sleep with one eye open and dreads the sound of it's bag being rustled... and opened.... Perhaps some will try to resist being given a new persona but they are weak - and I am overbearing and refuse to take no for an answer - I WILL dominate!! bwa-ha-ha!!!
Okay, maybe I AM a little overworked..... I think I'll put a DVD into the machine, grab an iced tea and do a few more rows on my lace poncho (which is coming along fine) and let my blood pressure climb down a few points...
