Over The Moon Over The Rainbow

My "Rainbow" superwash merino, 5 ounces, 325 yards, 3 ply (Navajo plied). My only disappointment is that this is so totally NOT sock weight yarn! It measures up at about 9 1/2 wraps per inch, a solid DK weight. On the plus side it is plush soft with lots of bounce so it will make superb comfy socks. I haven't read the pattern that closely yet so I might be able to use it anyways...

My Karaoke Mermaid soya silk skein. About 100 gms (but it seemed like much less), 190 yards, 3 ply Navajo plied. This turned out finer at 11 to 12 wpi, a worsted weight (which makes me wonder all the more about the weight - it's finer than the rainbow but significantly fewer yards even though the weight is only about an ounce less... What's up with that? Is soya silk heavier than merino wool?). I was very surprised that the neon lime green softened so much in the spinning. I think it's because the patches of green top were so short it was nearly impossible to spin pure green. There always seemed to be another color creeping in with it. I can see this being knit into entrelac too ... later! LOL!!

What a wonderful spinner you have become! And you continue to gain skill and evolve as you practice. Lovely, lovely stuff!

I still feel like I have very little control when I spin. I keep wondering when it will magically happen that I decide what weight I want to spin and then sit down and have it come out that way! sigh! But I am so pleased to be able to share my adventures with such kind and generous people, like you!

Beautiful colours! I especially like the second one. The colours look so rich and warm. Two very different personalities!
