Spring Cleaning/Room Overhaul
Yesterday was a long overdue overhaul of my office/fiber room. The whole stash was getting way out of control - unsorted and spread everywhere. Add children's toys into the mix and, well, you get the picture! LOL!! It was to the point that there was a path to the computers, desks and business stuff - needless to say it was difficult to work comfortably. (NO - I refuse to post "before" pictures - it would be too humiliating!!)
I bought a monster Rubbermaid tub - 36"x 21"x18" (yes, I could climb into it!) and started sorting. The tub (bright blue with a white lid) holds only 100% wool chunky yarns now. (I should blush but I refuse to!!) There are other 2 large 15 gallon tubs on top which hold similar 100% natural fiber yarns in wool and alpaca. Yes, that's my see-through zipper bag of sock yarns on top and another see-through zipper bag of alpaca fiber.

To the left you see the edge of a small desk with wicker drawers full of cotton and cotton blend yarn. Yes - ALL of it; proof that cotton is not my favorite yarn to work with. It took the girls and I ALL day to clean, organize and sort. They now have their own stash in clear zippered comforter bags, easily accessible. It sits on top of the previously chronicled stash wardrobe/cupboard.

We hung 2 sets of shelves on 2 walls. This set, where all our pattern books are sorted and easy to get at; crochet on the bottom, knitting on the top. Note the 3 black binders on the top shelf. It took me nearly an hour to sort and categorize all the patterns I downloaded from the internet and stow them. The one on the far left is SOCKS only!

This set is for for much of my spinning stuff; books, spindles, bobbins plus the boxes of DPNs and circs. I still have to find a place to move the pictures to. For the time being they are safe where they are, even if hidden!

Here is a floor shot. You can see part of the table with wicker drawers, the front of my stash wardrobe, baskets of projects and my spinning wheel tucked in front. My favorite willow basket is to the right but I turned it into a mending basket and moved the Wild Geese Fiber yarns. My socks are hanging over the edge of the basket full of superwash etc etc. Everything is easy to get at now and there's lots of floor space - it's a miracle!!

This post settles it. I'm moving in.

Wow! So much stash! And the room looks so full, I can only imagine what it must have looked like pre-sorting!!!! Have fun, usually after a stash toss you find things you forget you had and get your creativity running!!!

Does this give you a small clue why I couldn't bring myself to post pics before?????

Wow - you've got a lot of stuff! Is your fiber stuff only in this one room, or do you, like me, put it all over the house?
I wish my daughter could be here. She's such a good organizer, and with her help everything gets done faster.

Yes, this is ALL of it - really! Well, as long as you don't include the box of fiber stored under the air-hockey table. And it's really not all that much. I know for a fact the LYS about an hour away has much more than I do.....ROFL . You know what it's like some yarns are just too hard to resist.... spending even a little time with some of my favorites is such a balm, reminiscing over the projects I still have in mind for them - and then, of course, there's "core" stash - yarn you just love to much to ever use..... OK, OK! I admit it - I'm a yarnaholic!
