Unlike synthetic fibers, wool is fire retardant. Up until recently, the blankets firefighters used to rescue people from burning buildings were made of tightly woven wool. This is because wool will only burn if it is held on a flame and immediately stops burning if the flame is removed. Synthetics only need to be exposed to high heat before they combust (they don't even need an open flame) and will continue to burn even after being removed from the heat source. This makes synthetics HIGHLY DANGEROUS for infant bedding and clothing (if they're around smokers) because burning synthetics will actually melt right onto skin and continue to burn even after the flame has gone out.
Wool can be stretched up to 1/3 longer than it's resting length and still snap back into shape!

The pattern is pretty vanilla: crochet a chain as long as from fingertips to elbow. Turn, Double crochet in every chain. In the last chain Double crochet 4. In the side of the last DC make one DC. (You are going around a corner here). In the next chain (bottom of the 2nd last DC you did) DC 4. Then DC in every stitch. In the last DC, DC4, make a DC in the side of the end (going around a corner). In the next DC, DC 4. You have now completed your first round. Slip stitch into the top of the next DC and chain 2 to start the next round. Continue as previous until it's the size you want. A Note About the Corners: When you get to the corner you will have 4 DC in one stitch. Make your next 4DC in the center loop of this group. And there you have it! It's very simple!

I love the colours used in this afghan as it's so pretty.I would be putting it right on my bed after finishing it too as it needs to be shown off as it's a great job.I can imagine it'll be used alot in this Cold Winter weather we've been having.I wish I had one too.

Thanks for your kind compliments! I see you are an afghan fan too!! I can't get enough of them! I have a closet and a cupboard full and I hope my DDs never stop making them! They are so creative with their colors and stitches! It's SO great!
