Where Did the Week Go?

Another week's gone by in a blur! I spent some time admiring my Flamingo Fest handspun but eventually I just just couldn't keep my hands off it. I mean, isn't that the way? Admiration from afar just doesn't last - it's either progress with the relationship or look elsewhere ... hhrrmmmph!!
I fell in love with this Cabled Hat pattern from Knitting on the Net. Then I saw Tamara's Cabled Edge Hat and it pushed me over the edge! (BTW she has changed the name of her blog from Loomy Mama to Knit! Mama Knit! but the address is the same). I'm going to make them both. I might use a different cable pattern but the basic design will be the same.

I picked a cable pattern from this Harmony Guide. I made sure it was a simple cable ( read big). It's been really satisfying how the color changes don't hide the cable stitch. Three cheers for Navajo plying!! I really haven't paid any attention to gauge. After all, it's a hat. I know my handspun is thicker than the original pattern calls for but it's no big deal. I'll knit until the band fits comfortably around my head and then join it. I'm slipping the first stitch of every row so it will be easy to pick up stitches for the crown and ribbing band.
Yup! Not too much excitement just some simple fun..... I'll post about my latest spinning batch later ....

I'm so glad you like it! I found that pattern SO inspiring! I'm still thinking about which yarn I'm going to use to make your hat! Maybe I'll have to spin something....
