Stephanie Pearl's One Row Scarf

I should say that I'm a big fan of the Yarn Harlot, especially since she's a Canadian and has written so many books and been on TV etc etc - I should but can't honestly say I've read enough of her stuff to be a "fan". Maybe I'll add that to my current project list - read more S-P-M! (That's Stephanie Pearl McPhee for anyone who has never heard of her). The bits of her blog I've read have been very entertaining and her current piece is on some really lovely knit leaves but I didn't have time to find out what she's doing with them ... maybe I'll find time to sneak back there today ... hmmm
Anyways, what brought me to her blog in the first place was a link to this scarf pattern called The One Row Handspun Scarf. It instantly caught my attention because a one row textured pattern that wasn't garter stitch sounds like my kind of lazy knit - mindless, easy and an interesting texture. Now I'm sure this is old news for any of you Yarn Harlot fans since the archive is from 2006 but I still think it's a beautiful pattern and something I might do with some more Navajo plied, just like she did. She shows everything from the roving, to the plied yard to the scarf and the colors as you can see, are great!

The leaves she's currently making will be used for socks. I like reading her blog, have read the first three of her books (or was it four?), definately not the last one. I've made this scarf, but not with handspun. It drove me mad, and I begged my son (for whom I was knitting it), to tell me that it's long enough. He's not mean, but he likes long scarves. :o)

Ooookay .... this is not exactly a rousing recommendation for this pattern! Hmmmmm ......
Thanks for the info on those leaves. I read all her entries from January and couldn't find out what they were for. And yes, she's pretty entertaining!!

I DO LOVE her scarf very much, especially since she made it with her handspun in colors I really, really like. I made mine (because it was for my son) in dark grey. I was ready to kill myself. I'd rather knit another Noro striped scarf, this was much more entertaining for me. :o)
