As Promised DD#2's 1st Pair of Crocheted Socks!

The pattern is called Red Hot from the book Crocheted Socks! by Janet Rehfeldt and Mary Jane Wood. She just made them much longer than the pattern which was for ankle socks. (Yes, that means her first cuff was so huge it could fit both ankles but she found it fit nicely around her calf ... soooo adapt adapt adapt! That's right - she hates to rip out!) The socks are crocheted top-down, a method I'm not overly fond of - and now she's not either! She's looking at making a second pair but wants to make them toe-up. DD#1 in fact is working her first pair, a toe-up pair. She has learned very quickly that making both at the same time and switching back and forth every few inches means that both socks are made exactly the same! Trying them on again and again means she knows they will fit when she's done. I'm hoping they will each find a pattern that 'works' for them and then just use different stitches and colors. It's a lot of work for me helping them figure out the patterns as they go along, that's for sure! It's not that I mind helping, it just means I don't get any of my own stuff done!! LOL!! But it's SO worth it when they finish something and just glow!

I've never crocheted socks... Very cute!!!
Congratulations for DD# 2 for great socks! I can't believe you can crochet socks, which will fit so perfectly! I know what you mean about the helping. I often say in my house, when others want to do something, I have to do it (with them). :o) It's great that your daughters are both so interested in fiber arts! :o)
Great job... the socks are terrific and I love the colors!
Way to go! I certainly would not have the patience to crochet a whole pair of socks, and they really do look lovely! Your little ladies are following in some good footsteps for sure!
great job on the socks! congratualtions to your dd!
we started knitting yesterday in our g.s. troop. turned out better then I thought. most girls caught on to casting on pretty quick, next meeting we'll start with 2 needles if they are practicing enough at home with c.o.
Beautiful! It would never have occured to me to crochet socks. I love the way the colours make those zigzags down the socks. They are certainly something to be proud of.
