Old Fashioned Cardigan Started!

I cast on my  new project sweater. I'm calling it my Old Fashioned Cardigan because it's made with my slightly irregular (understatement) handspun. Now that I've started knitting with it I know for certain it will not be soft enough to wear next to the skin so I have congratulated myself it's a cardigan instead of a yoke sweater. To me it feels Old Fashioned, meaning, made from the available wool at hand which is not necessarily the best quality! Remember the early settler's motto: Waste not want not! OK, OK not exactly an exclamation of endearment, but I am loving the colors and how they're knitting up. If I didn't this project would be dead in the water - boy do I mean that! I prefer to knit with "fondle me" yarns and this is not one of them!

Moss stitch collar in green and the button bands, hem and cuffs will also be green. It's all knit in one piece so I'm knitting both purple & green at the same time. Since I only have the one skein of green I'm knitting from both the inside and the outside of the ball to make the left and right button bands. If you look closely you can see my new stitch markers being used. I couldn't resist a zoom of the pretty patch of stripey purples. The whole sweater is turning out much more random than that which is OK. All in all a rather mindless knit which is a plus considering how I feel about the yarn, even if it IS my own handspun. (Why do I feel so guilty not liking it? Maybe because it feels a bit like rejecting your favorite pet's babies?)
