Finally Finished the First Sock!

For a while there I was starting to think I would never finish it! After ripping out the cuff several times I saw a pattern I thought would tame these stripes......

My children now call it the Accordion Sock and I guess the name fits! I stretched it out in the second pic so you can see the cuff is actually fairly long. It's a very simple pattern repeat of 6 rows of knit, 6 rows of purl ... at least it's supposed to be. Yup, it's Lazy Knitter trick time! LOL! I knit 6 rows but I hate to purl, especially in the round! Sooooo when I finished my last knit round I simply wrap the last stitch and then knit in the other direction for 6 rounds! Then wrap the last stitch and knit in the other direction for 6 rounds etc etc. Just be sure to pick up the wrap with the stitch before it or there will be a hole where you turned. *** Just to clarify - pick up the wrap with the stitch before the wrapped stitch to close the hole. If you knit the wrap with the wrapped stitch there will still be a hole. This is because you are knitting in the round from the other direction, OK?
Ya gotta' love those double pointed needles!!  I did the same thing on the Twizzle Tops hat too. Easy, easy, easy!
