Just an Old Bag or Two!!

These 2 are my knitted bags. The first is a combo of my own handspun (colors) and Briggs & Little (dk grey). It's a great size and quite sturdy! The second bag is a combo of my own handspun (pink & rose colors) and some grey handspun unknown wool I got off eBay. It shrunk very strangely! It got shorter but not narrower! Go figure! It's officially wide enough to put 2 standard books side by side! I think I'll use it for storage rather than groceries - and it's quite furry/fuzzy. It got felted all by itself so it wouldn't shed all over the other bags.

These are DD#1's first 2 bags. The blue striped is single crochet made with 50/50 hemp & wool. It is by far my favorite for toughness and it's what I consider the ideal size for groceries! Her second bag is double crocheted with the Lion Brand 100% fisherman's wool I dyed in the ball earlier this spring. She has been in love with it for a while and eyeing it covetously all summer! No, it's not your monitor! It really came out in a zig-zaggy pattern! She's so thrilled with it!! It took a bit more than the 200 gm of one ball. She's making a second bag to use the rest and adding some stripes of light grey Briggs & Little so it will come out the right size when felted.

DD#2's bags were the most interesting to felt! Her purple/red/blue striped bag is double crochet with Tussock Naturally chunky. It was huge! Every bit as wide and deep as my furry grey bag (above). It was such a shock to see it shrink and shrink until it was the same size as DD#1's blue striped bag!! It is so thick and tough it will be perfect for bringing home cans or bottles of juice etc. Amazing!! Her other bag is double crochet in boucle wool. 3 different mill ends so no idea of brand etc. Quite the adventure to felt as the black/pink shrunk a lot more than the brown/beige parts. We had quite a tug-of-war to stretch out the hour glass shape it had! Since her next bag is using up the rest of these yarns she has given careful consideration to the placement of the offenders!
This has been such a fun stash-attack! We still have a full basket of feltable yarns to make into bags and now that we've felted some we are looking at them in a new light!

Wow these bags are awesome. They'll be fun to use for groceries because no one else will have one like it. It gives me an idea as to what I can use my Briggs & Little for now. Congratulations on a job well done ladies.
