How Did I Knit the Mar La?

Good morning all! I've had a few inquiries about the how I knit the Mar La sweater so I thought I'd  post about it.
The sweater is knit in the round from the bottom up like a tube. The sleeves are knit in the round from the cuff up. All 3 tubes (2 sleeves & main body) are knit together starting at the under arm. There are a small number of stitches put on holders from both the body and sleeves, at the underarm, so that the sleeve remains an open tube. From there you knit the yoke and then decrease several times and lastly finish off the neck.
I learned to knit this method from "Knitting Workshop" by Elizabeth Zimmerman.  There is a book & a DVD or video set that go with the book. You can get it from School House Press . Her instructions are so straight forward! It is a simple formula of percentages. You can apply them to any yarn and any size sweater. You can't avoid making a swatch but after that it's just count, measure and multiply or divide. It means you are free to add any color work or texture you like. It's as close to "just sit and knit" a sweater as you're going to get! Once I learned to knit sweaters using this method I'm pretty hard pressed to knit them any other way! Hope this inspires (tempts) you! tee hee!  School House's prices are fairly competitive and it's run by EZ's family. Cheers!

Sorry for responding so late. Thank you for the information on circular knitting. I have all of EZ's books, but I dislike knitting with bulky yarn.
