Jacob Wool Shawl + Cashmere Blend Mini-Shawl

I got my Jacob Wool Shawl cast on. I'm glad this pattern is only for the advanced beginner! It's a semi-mindless knit as only every 4th row contains a pattern stitch other than the border. The picture is lousy because the mock-shell pattern doesn't show but I suspect with blocking the lacey loops made by YO will show better. The color looks very homespun, which I really like. I want this shawl to be one I use for every-day. It will be durable enough, I'm sure and I'll want to use it because it's soft. This yarn is a triple strand with a moderate twist. It's not like lopi which is single ply and almost not spun at all but this is not a tight commercial twist either. It has occasional almost un-spun parts which add a slightly uneven texture.  It's enough to give it the appearance of pioneer handspun! It will have a rustic folk-art  character, exactly what I wanted!

I also cast on my mini-shawl with the marvelous cashmere blend from Wild Geese Fibres. It is a charted pattern from the book "The Best of Knitter's Review - Shawls". I'm not very far along and have had to frog 2 rows back at least 6 times because my stitch count was wrong. It is utterly impossible to do anything else when knitting this project! No TV, no favorite movie, no toddlers! Maybe as I get more done the pattern will be a little more obvious, but right now it's just a smattering of symbols in squares that nearly make me crosseyed! LOL!
I AM so very pleased with the dye job though! It came out just like I wanted! As the  project gets wider across the striping will get thinner until part of each row will be different colors. Then I'll be out of yarn and it will be finished (maybe by next Easter??)!
I'm tired tonight and not feeling very chatty. Hope you'll forgive me! Cheers until next week!
