Marvelous Magic Sock Yarn

Well I gave in to passion and cast on a sock with the lovely yarn I dyed last weekend. I never imagined I would see the wonderous creation that magically appeared on my needles! In barely a day and a half I had completed a mid-calf sock with a Yarn-Over Cable pattern up the leg! The yarn flew through my fingers, I was breathless! I have never had sock yarn with such a pleasant feel! It looks ordinary enough but it has a downy softness completely out of character with it's appearance. It's not slippery like silk but I suspect it is the custom treatment that milled the yarn that has left a lanolin residual in it somehow. I mean, it's not greasy and it doesn't leave anything on your hands but it has a mysterious soft quality about it - must be the blend of rare wool fibres! It made working with the the Regia Sock yarn from my Mermaid Socks feel like jute burlap!! All I know is that it was a sensual tactile pleasure to knit with and wearing these socks will be equally pleasurable!
Something else about this yarn - The skein was sold as approx 387 yards. (50% Rideau-Arcott wool, 30% Lincoln wool and 20% Alpaca - which, by the way, is not high enough to fully account for the the remarkable feel). It wound into 2 center pull balls of 78 gm and 81 gm. By the time I am done I will have almost 55gm left! Enough, I suspect, for a pair of anklets! Value AND quality!! WOW!
If you're wondering about the safety pins, it's how I marked my increases. As I make the 2nd sock I'll just match the increases. Remember, I'm a lazy knitter - I seldom write things down and convenient wins out every time! The white yarn tag is just the beginning marker of my round so I know where my pattern changes.
I have DD#2 modeling the sock and she has thick ankles. My legs are much slimmer (OK, OK! I have bony ankles!) and the socks were knit to fit my feet. I'm more  than 1/2 way up the 2nd sock and hope to be able to wear them in a day or two! Whee!
The only thing I would change is that I would dye the blue on a bit wider stretch of the skein. The green was a bit more dominant than I thought it would be, but all in all that's trivial ... a bit of thought stored away for next time!
