4 Pairs of Socks
The white yarn tag marks where I increased for the cuff. Because the
mock cable stitch is 2x2 ribbing and the pattern is made on the knit
stitches I incerased the purl stitches instead. Then when I get that
far on the 2nd sock I'll know where to increase - mostly because I'm
too lazy to count rows or measure.
This
shot was a fun way to showcase my 4 latest pairs. I had both DDs put on
one sock from each pair. DD#1 sat on a stool and DD#2 stood in front of
her. Quite the giggly arrangement to be sure! So these are the socks,
right to left;1) Yet another Pair of Jaywalkers in Stahl Big Mexico superwash variegated. I think I've finally outgrown this stitch. I think it works better for finer yarn with more stitches. There just isn't enough zig-zag when you only use 45-50 stitches for the whole sock.
2) My notorious Mock Cable socks in Lorna's Laces DK superwash, color Motherlode. Yes, I survived the ordeal of finishing the pair! And here's the kicker - I just bought some more of this color!!! Yes, OK I'm officially yarn crazed, but I think it will go great with the Lorna's Laces in Spruce I just got and since I saw the great color work on Smokin' Hot Needles blog I'm thinking of maybe tackling slip stitch color work...
3) Cat's Eye Lace (Stitch from Knittingwisdom.com) in red random dye handwash wool which has shrunk slightly in spite of handwashing; Note to self: Don't make socks out of this again! I sill have some left in red, blue & navy! groan! What was I thinking when I bought it?? Looks nice but...
4) 2x2 Ribbed cuff socks in Lorna's Laces variegated and Lamb's Pride Lilac double stranded toe & heel.
After looking at this shot I have come to the conclusion that I need to make my cuffs longer if I have more yarn. I mean, with yarn like the Big Mexico, that's only as far as you'll get with 50 gm. As for the others I could certainly have made them longer. I think maybe I just get bored - or maybe can't wait to get to the 2nd sock and finish the pair! No - I definitely don't suffer from SSS!! (Second Sock Syndrome!)

I love the fun shot of the the socks. They all look great. Don't you just love Lorena's Laces?
