My First Entry January 1st 2007

I never thought I'd have a blog.... but I've seen so many inspiring and terrific ones I thought maybe I'd give it a try.... sort of like sock knitting..... I admired so many pairs but thought I'd never be able to do it myself......
So I started out slowly... ha ha! I used chunky yarn and size 6mm double pointed plastic needles and used a bulky cuff down pattern off the internet ... gusset & flap heel and all, clumsy cast off ungrafted, more like sewn toes.... after about 6 pairs I was still unsatisfied, well aware there was more to socks than my first efforts. Good thing I have a brother-in-law who treasures bulky hand-knit socks! You're welcome Trev!
Don't get me wrong, I know many people produce excellent gusset & flap heels... it just didn't satisfy me. Remember, I'm a lazy knitter - picking up gusset stitches is too much like work and not very relaxing! What's more, I didn't want to spend my time looking at a printed pattern every 10 seconds and fumbling with a book. Interruptions are a way of life with me, as it is with most moms with families.... I wanted a "sit and knit" method. Cast on and GO! Drop it and run as need be, come back to it later and pick up where you left off.... like this blog will be....
